Building upon the successful legacy of Kalari Forest School, which has positively impacted thousands of young learners, Maivarai expands its vision to foster profound environmental and social awareness.
Since 2019, Maivarai has been a trusted and beloved space for children, youth, and the wider community. We have passionately delivered transformative programs encompassing ecological understanding, the vital role of forests, social responsibility, principles of self-reliance, essential life skills, and artistic expression through engaging activities and meaningful dialogues.
Looking ahead, Maivarai is committed to pioneering an educational approach that not only imparts knowledge but also nurtures virtue and promotes a culture of non-violent living, empowering individuals to become responsible and compassionate stewards of our planet and society.
Maivarai Eco-Village
Nestled in the pristine landscapes near Thandikudi village in the breathtaking Kodaikanal region of the Western Ghats, Maivarai Eco-Village is emerging as an inspiring model for ecological living. Founded on the shared vision and deep commitment of 18 families passionate about nature and community, this burgeoning 11-acre sanctuary is thoughtfully designed for self-sufficiency and harmonious co-existence.
Maivarai Eco-Village is dedicated to fostering sustainable living, environmental consciousness, social well-being, and non-violent education within its community and the wider society. Beyond its self-reliant design, the village is actively developing facilities for transformative education, impactful training programs, vital biodiversity conservation initiatives, insightful research into arts, culture, and traditional medicine, and the provision of sustainable livelihood opportunities for neighboring tribal communities.
