Yogesh Karthick S - Founder & Member

Mr. Yogesh Karthick is an electrical engineer by education then turned out to become a children educator. He started his career with a private automation company and resigned his job to establish his startup company on renewable resources. In 2013, he established a Solar Power installation company and has installed several solar power projects during the power crisis period.

Meanwhile, he used to involve himself in several environmental conservation activities with likeminded youth groups and developed himself to learn about several social and environmental issues prevailing in the society.

It was then, he decided to quit all his technical expertise and enter into children education where he found education as the only tool to create a society that is concern about environment and social justice.

2013 - 2015

In collaboration with various social organizations and youth movements, involved in documenting the water bodies in Madurai city, documenting the biodiversity in the water bodies, documenting the condition of the water bodies and creating awareness about the importance of water bodies through the movement “Vizhithezhu Madurai” (Wake Up Madurai). He was also one of the members in the decision-making committee of Wake-Up Madurai.

2014 - 2017

Involved in creating awareness about organic farming among school and colleges in Madurai district in collbaration with Tamilnadu Sarvodaya Mandal. Also led and organized the “March against Monsanto”, a global campaign against genetically modified food and emphasize the significance of food security and traditional seed saving at Madurai. March against Monsanto is a worldwide campaign that is held in more than 400 cities every year.

2015 - 2017

Started to deeply involve in working with children for making education to bridge the reality. Created a specialized curriculum and worked with children in a destitute home at Madurai and promoted activity-based learning programs and life skill workshops. Met over 2000 children from various backgrounds in educating life skills and fundamental science concepts in activity-based methods.

Since 2017

Started “Learning from Tribes” a program to understand the culture and tradition of various tribal communities by taking the values of tribal communities to the urban society through camps at tribal villages. Understanding and documenting their way of life in sustainability, equality and coexistence with nature and environment.

2018

Worked with Mr. Rajendra Singh, known as the water man of India in coordinating various events on behalf of the river rejuvenation movement in Tamilnadu. In 2018, represented Tamilnadu in the National Water Convention organized by Tarun Baghat Sangh and the State Government of Karnataka at Bijapur, Karnataka.

2018

Worked with several environmental activists of Tamil Nadu in making awareness on environmental conservation, climate change and the importance of biodiversity conservation. In 2018, participated in tiger census at the Srivilliputur – Megamalai Tiger Reserve as a volunteer.

Since 2019

Organized and participated in training young leaders in several youth leadership training programs with several organizations in promoting leadership, peace and nonviolence.

2019 - 2024

Established a children activity center in the name of Kalari Forest School at Kodaikanal region to promote environmental education. Started to work with tribal hamlets in Kodaikanal region in education, health and livelihood development.

2022

As a member of the Ahimsa Santhai organization, coordinated a 90 Km road padayatra from Kallupatti in Madurai district to Madurai Gandhi Museum for 4 days visiting more than 15 villages as a symbol of nonviolent economy. Padayatris from different states such as Karnataka, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Madya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Andra Pradesh participated in the Padayatra. 

Invited as a guest speaker by the national movement Ekta parishad for the golden jubilee celebration of the mass surrender of dacoits at Jora, in the Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh and delivered a speech on nonviolent education.
